SANTA BARBARA, Calif- A man was arrested after police say that he walked up to two different women, hit one in the head with a coffee cup and elbowed the other in the face.
A 33-year-old woman said that a man walked up behind her on Anacapa Street and tried to take her purse. The victim hit the man with her elbow and started screaming. Police say the suspect then hit the victim in the head with a coffee cup and ran away.
While police were talking with the victim they got a call about a another woman who may have been a victim of the same man
The second victim, a 22-year-old woman, was walking in the area of W. Mission Street when a suspect came up and spit in her face. Police say the woman took of her shoe and threw it at the suspect, but she missed. The suspect then hit the victim in the face with his elbow and walked away.
Officers were able to track down a suspect based on witness descriptions. Both victims were able to identify the suspect as 38-year old Yemane Abraham.
Police say that Abraham said he had nothing to do with the incident and that the victims were mistaken.
Abraham was booked at Santa Barbara County Jail for robbery and battery with a bail amount of $50,000.00.
