VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif.- Members of the Vandenberg Hot Shots fire crew are home Thursday after helping fight fires in Colorado and Wyoming.
They loaded up their equipment and flew out in a C-17 to battle the blazes a few weeks ago. Now, they're glad to be home and get some rest, until they're called on again.
"The elevation was pretty hard for us the first couple of days. I actually kind of got sick during the first week and it was really hard on me, just trying to hike and catch my breath," says Danny Hetherwick, Vandenberg Hot Shots Firefighter.
Only half of the group came home Thursday and the rest is expected be back on the Central Coast by Friday.
