Posted: Updated:

ATASCADERO, Calif- The Department of Forestry and Fire Protection will be conducting a 25-acre prescribed burn today.

This burn is being conducted as a training exercise to provide fire crews with the opportunity to use live fire and gain valuable experience using prudent ignition and containment techniques.

The prescribed burn is being coordinated with the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District and the California Air Resources Board in order to minimize the smoke impacts on surrounding communities.

If the conditions are not correct on Friday as planned, the burn will be rescheduled.
