ORCUTT - The start of school is a month away at St. Joseph High School in Orcutt without a Principal or a Dean of Students.
The two men have been charged with failing to notify local law enforcement of alleged sex assaults involving students.
The student sex assault allegations and the failure to report charges against the top two administrators come as St. Joseph High School prepares for the start of its new academic year next month.
With Principal Joe Myers on paid administrative leave for an undetermined length of time and former Dean of Students John Walker no longer employed at the school, the start of the new school year is taking on an unfamiliar dimension.
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles, which has ultimate authority for the administration of St. Joseph High School, won't comment on pending or future personnel changes at the school.
A spokesperson says the Archdiocese will be working closely with St. Joseph staff and faculty to ensure minimal disruptions when classes start next month.
The Santa Barbara County District Attorney's office says it cannot talk about the case involving the students at the center of the alleged sex assaults that allegedly happened off-campus during the last school year.
The DA's office says because they are all minors the names of the students involved are not being released.
The DA's office says charges have been filed against two boys who allegedly assaulted a 16 year old female student in September of last year.
Investigators have since identified another female student who may also have been sexually assaulted by one of the same two boys.
Former Dean of Students John Walker is charged with failing to report both alleged sex assaults to law enforcement when he learned of them.
Principal Myers has been charged with failing to report one of the alleged assaults.
Neither Myers or Walker has been arrested and both are scheduled to be arraigned on the charges against them at the end of the month.
