SANTA MARIA, Calif.- Hundreds of people poured through the fair Saturday, but there's one group that always stays the same all day, the vendors. Central Coast News wanted to know if the tough economy has reached them too this year.
Central Coast News spent the day with Ty Bayless, a vendor at the fair, to find out exactly how much his business is profiting.
"I mean we'll do 100 desserts, 120 everyday no problem, we do anything you have or we have, we will fry it up for you," says Ty Bayless, Owner, Bayless Consessions.
Bayless started out the day at 11:00am and said, "from last year's numbers we're flat, we're about the same so far, we're hoping today and tomorrow kicks in."
This isn't Bayless' first Santa Barbara County Fair, he's been here for seven years and with his food prices averaging about four dollars a plate he's confident more people will be buying this year.
"I try to keep things low so we do more volume, I mean if you look around the fair grounds we are below average on our price break," says Bayless.
Some fair goers said prices aren't an issue.
"It's a fair, it's going to be more expensive, but for the flavor I'd buy it, I think its worth it," says Thomas Thompson.
And by 4:00 Saturday afternoon, Central Coast News found out Bayless' sales were up 10% from last year.
