Aurora, COLORADO - At least twelve people are dead and as many as 50 others injured after a gunman opened fire inside a theatre during a midnight showing of the Dark Knight Rises Friday morning.
According to police in the area, one of the injured victims was just three months old.
Police say they later caught he 24-year old suspect James Holmes in a rear parking lot of the theatre.
There's a Central Coast Connection to the accused shooter. An Aunt who lives in Santa Cruz and an Uncle who lives in Carmel. We spoke to his uncle who shares the same name as the suspect, James Holmes. Uncle said he calls his nephew "Jimmy."
He got the call early this morning about what happened in Colorado and thought it was a prank. He called his brother, Jimmy's father, thinking Jimmy was a victim of the terrible shooting, but found out Jimmy was the suspect.
We asked him if Jimmy ever showed signs of aggression or violence, and he said no. He told us Jimmy was always a good kid and the whole family is in shock. The uncle has not seen the suspect in quite sometime.
He cant believe his nephew planned somehting like this. He is trying to figure out details of getting to Colorado and be with the Holmes family.
