Hungry Shark in Waters Near Santa Barbara, Sea Lion Attacked

SANTA BARBARA, Calif- A sea lion was found with a wound from a great white shark just of off East Beach. The attack was reported around 11 a.m by the Santa Barbara Marine Mammal Center.

Based on this information, the Parks Department has placed warning signs at eight location along City beaches and on its five lifeguard towers. The signs advise swimmers of the shark sighting and ask them not to go in the water.

The warning signs will be removed in 72 hours unless more shark activity is observed in that area.
