GAVIOTA, Calif.- A Santa Maria couple is thankful their pet is okay. The couple was hiking up Gaviota Peak Trail Monday and when they reached the top they noticed their dog, Wrigley, a black Labrador, was showing signs of heat distress.
Wrigley's owners attempted to hike her back down to the trailhead. About halfway down the mountain they discovered that Wrigley's paws appeared to be injured.
Santa Barbara Search and Rescue Crews say they were able to rescue the dog and cool her down and say within minutes she was wagging her tail.
