600 Gallons of Sewage Spills Into Shell Beach Ocean

SHELL BEACH, Calif.- 600 gallons of sewage has spilled into a storm drain in Shell Beach and people are being warned to stay out of the ocean.

The spill was reported around 6:15 Tuesday morning in the 100 block of Indio Drive. Central Coast News spoke with the county's environmental health specialist and he says the spill is considered minor and was caused by a failure at a nearby lift station.

Signs have been posted warning people to stay out of the ocean for at least 24 hours.
