SANTA BARBARA, Calif-- Deputies are investigating a body that was found on a Santa Barbara beach Tuesday as a possible suicide.
The Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department received a call about 3:30 Tuesday afternoon where the 911 call requested a "welfare check." When deputies arrived on scene, they found a woman's body on the rocks at the bottom of More Mesa Beach.
The body was not far from the stairs that lead down the beach from the walking trail on the Mesa above just off Mockingbird Lane. Due to the rocky cliff, Search and Rescue had to come in and remove the body. At this time, investigators are not releasing the woman's name until her family has been notified.
They say she is believed to be older than 40 but her age has not yet been confirmed.
