Transient Arrested After Police Say He Robbed A Gas Station

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- A Santa Barbara transient has been arrested after deputies say he robbed a gas station and assaulted the clerk.

44-year-old Eric Moldoven is accused of walking into the Mobil Gas Station at 4801 Hollister Avenue in Santa Barbara just before 5:00am Wednesday morning, demanded cash and then used a metal flashlight to the hit the clerk.

Moldoven then ran off with $100, but detectives were able to find him several hours later at a nearby field behind the Turnpike Shopping Center. 

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department along with AMR paramedics responded and transported the victim to Cottage Hospital, where he was treated for moderate injuries and released. 

Moldoven was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of Robbery, Burglary, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  Moldoven's bail was set at $1,000,000.
