Sinkhole Closes Highway 192 in Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif- A large, 3-foot diameter sinkhole has caused Caltrans to close Highway 192 at Westmont Road Wednesday night.

A traffic detour is available along Sycamore Canyon Road, Alameda Padre Serra and Barker Pass Road.

Caltrans said that crews are out checking underground utilities, replacing a failed drainage culvert and rebuilding this section of roadway. The road is expected to be back open in a few weeks.
