PBS Remixes, Autotunes Your Favorite Stars

Posted: Updated:

CENTRAL COAST, Calif- Most people know that PBS stands for Public Broadcasting Service and that its programs would not be possible "without viewers like you." But now there is a spin on the old pledge drive for your local PBS station.

Bob Ross, if you don't know him by name, you at least know his look. A very mellow sounding guy with a painters pallet, has a huge afro, and talks about the "happy trees." Yes I'm talking about The Joy of Painting guy.

Well pbsdigitalstudios has remixed several episodes of the Bob Ross show and posted them to Youtube. The result is a 3 minute music video of a very quotable Bob Ross saying things like "you can paint anything, all you have to do is practice." And of course, just as he did when he was on PBS, he makes it look so easy you start to think you can paint "happy" clouds and trees.

And in true PBS style the description at the bottom says "If you like this video, please support your local PBS station." Though it is unknown how many pledges the video has secured, just 24 hours of being posted it has over 500,000 views. Friday morning Bob Ross Remixed was the second most popular video in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties.

The painter is not the only star that is getting the modern twist. In June a certain Mister Rogers who always thinks it's a wonderful day in the neighborhood got a similar treatment. You can check out his video here
