Body Dropped off at Hospital, San Luis Obispo Police Investigating

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif- A man's body was dropped off at a local hospital! A bizarre situation early this morning. David Harrell left his car in downtown San Luis Obispo and when he came back there was a man in it.

Police say that David Harrell claimed he thought the man in his car was unconscious so he took the body to French Medical Center and dropped it off. When hospital staff tried to help him get the body out of the car, they found out he was dead and called police. Police say that's when Harrell took off.

"At this point it doesn't seem like there's anything suspicious about the death but the circumstances with leaving the deceased behind without staying there was concerning for the police," says Captain Chris Staley.

Thursday, police were able to track David Harrell.  After initial questioning police say there is no evidence Harrell was involved in the death of the man. Police already released him from the department.

Police say there are no signs of traumatic injury, and that actual cause of the mans death is still under investigation. The man was a known transient in the city.
