SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Burglars stole $10,000 dollars worth of music equipment from Santa Maria Apostolic Church located on the north end of town.
The equipment ranged from speakers, microphones to computers all used for the children's music program.
15 year old music ministry teacher Johnathan Olguin has been part of the program for more than three years but the music ministry program had a set back when burglars broke into the church and took everything.
Police don't know how the burglars broke into the church but they did find the door to the church's media room completely broken down and everything inside was taken.
"I was heartbroken. Why would people do this to us 'cause it's a church and we're just trying to help the community," said Olguin.
The church pulled money from its service fund to try and replace an estimated $10,000 to $15,000 worth of equipment. The church is hosting a BBQ fundraiser and car wash this Saturday from 10am to 4pm. The proceeds raised will go toward the children's music program.
The church is slowly rebuilding and its music minister has a message for the thieves.
"I hope they see the wrong that they've done. I'll pray for them. We just got to keep praying for our enemies no matter what they do to us," said Olguin.
"We just got to go forward."
