SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Television's "Iron Chef" celebrity Cat Cora took a plea deal in court this morning. Santa Barbara police caught the Food Network star driving drunk in June. She was cited for a DUI last month.
Cora pleaded no contest today for driving drunk in the downtown area and rear-ending a car on State Street and La Cumbre in Santa Barbara. Police say she had a blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit.
She has been sentenced to three years probation and nine months of DUI school. Cora also had to pay more than $2,000.00 in fines. Although she originally was served a 120 day jail sentence, officials say she won't have to spend time in jail if she behaves. The Santa Barbara County District Attorney's office says this case is the same as any other, despite Cora's celebrity status.
Cat Cora was made famous on the TV show "Iron Chef America" on the Food Network.
