GOLETA, Calif. - Santa Barbara County firefighters battled a vegetation fire burning West of Refugio Road near Highway 101 Monday night.
The 10 acre brush fire broke out around 4:45 p.m. Monday. Although it was difficult to access, fire crews were able to knock out the fire by 7:00 p.m. A total of eight engines, two water tenders, three dozers, two hand crews, two helicopters, two air tankers and two chief officers responded to the fire.
The fire caused some backup on Highway 101, but it remained open. The fire did not cause any structural damage and there were no reports of any injuries. The cause is still under investigation.
