Criminal Trial for Santa Maria Man

OCEANO, Calif. - The Santa Maria Man first arrested back in May on charges he killed one teen and injured another is heading to a criminal trial.

21-year-old Armando Yepez was in court for the second day of a preliminary hearing Tuesday on charges he killed 17-year-old Gabriel Salgado and injured a 14-year-old boy last November.

Prosecutors say he was angered by an encounter he had with Nipomo gang members.

Yepez is accused of targeting a group of Oceano teens standing near a street corner.
