CENTRAL COAST, Calif - Like most things, there's an app for that. On Wednesday the Super PAC App was launched, focusing on attack ads and much more to help you make the right decision in November.
What you do to get the app is download it using your Smart phone at the app store. After that you just push the main button while listening to the add, in seconds it processes the information and gives you its interpretation of how factual the ad is.
The Super PAC App shows you who the sponsor of the ad is and if it's even a legit presidential ad. It also shows how much money was raised and spent to create the message. We looked at several ads like 'Nothing's Free' from the Romney campaign and 'Stretch' by the President's camp.
The app rates the ads by how factually correct they are and shows you where it fact checked the information from articles in the New York Times, Huffington Post, Forbes, and FactCheck.org.
Central Coast News Political Analyst Dr. David Anderson said an app like this in today's tense political climate is something voters can trust more than any ad. "I like the idea of anything that gives the voters more information because there's so much bad information, there's so much information, anything helps the voter," said Anderson.
Anderson said as more and more research is done on just how effective political ads are, he said voters should never rely on them for the facts. "The person shouldn't rely on any one source anyway. It's hard and people are busy and overwhelmed by so much, but people should try and get as much information as they can themselves," said Anderson.
The free app has already climbed to #4 on iTunes' Most Downloaded list.
