Arrests Made in Armed Robbery in Oceano

Posted: Updated:

OCEANO, Calif- Last month hundreds of dollars were stolen from the Oceano Market. San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's say they were tipped off that the guns used during the robbery were at a home in Arroyo Grande. After a probation search preformed at the home, they found much more than the guns believed to be used during the robbery.

"They also found a pipe bomb which they had to diffuse and explode," said Tony Cipolla, SLO Sheriff's Spokesperson. They also found meth. 33 -year old Danielle Grimes and 39-year-old Michael Friant of the home, were arrested during this incident. They are not believed to be part of the armed robbery in Oceano.

Shortly after the incident, Sheriff's were able to find one of the robbery suspects. "One suspect was found to be staying at a motel in Pismo Beach, the other suspect was already in custody on unrelated charges," said Cipolla.

30-year-old Matthew Lawrence and 21-year-old Michael Hardisty have both been charged with armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, and assault with a deadly weapon. They were also found to be responsible for a home invasion robbery that happened earlier this month. The investigation is still ongoing on whether the two men have gang affiliations.
