Domestic Dispute Ends With Bomb Squad Called To Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant

Posted: Updated:

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif- What started as a domestic dispute ended with the bomb squad being called out to the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, but it was cut short after they didn't find anything.

Just after 2:00pm Tuesday afternoon, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Deputies say a woman, was arguing with her husband who is an employee of the plant. The woman is accused of throwing a paper bag at the front of the Diablo Canyon gate.

The woman who has not been identified, threw the bag that had been marked with the words "it's not a bomb" on the front of the bag.

"The issue is we are dealing with the nuclear power plant, it was on their property and they were concerned about it, the deputies were also concerned, so we thought it was safest to have the bomb squad come out," says Commander Brian Hascall, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say the woman suffers from mental health issues. As for her husband, we're told he is an electrician at the plant.
