Schools in Santa Maria-Bonita School District on Lockdown

SANTA MARIA, Calif.- Nineteen schools were on lockdown Tuesday in the Santa Maria-Bonita School District.

School district officials say Santa Maria Police requested the lockdown just after 3:00pm. It lasted only about 20 minutes. Officials tell Central Coast News Santa Maria Police told them it was a precautionary measure because something was going on in the community. Police did tell the district the issue had been resolved.

No word yet from police on why the lockdown happened.
