SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Three political committees that fought the 2008 Prop 8 ballot measure that banned gay marriage in California have agreed to pay $80,000 in fines.
The fines will be paid to the state ethics agency.
The committees admitted they violated campaign finance rules.
Altogether, the fines against the four political committees on both sides of Prop 8 represent some of the largest penalties imposed over a ballot measure in the state.
