SLO County Announces Road Work in Nipomo

Posted: Updated:

WORK ON THOMPSON AVENUE AT WILLOW ROAD – NIPOMO, CA – September 11, 2012 - The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works announces that construction will begin starting Thursday, September 13, 2012 through Friday, September 14, 2012, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., resulting in intermittent closures of Thompson Avenue between Nipomo High and Sheehy Road. Flagmen will be directing traffic. Expect 10 minute delays.

This work is part of the Willow Road Extension Project. The Willow Road and new interchange work is expected to be completed and open to traffic by the end of this year. This project will provide a new access across the Nipomo Mesa for motorist and emergency vehicles. It will also reduce the congestion at Tefft Street.

The project is funded under a $10 million State Transportation Improvement Program grant through San Luis Obispo Council of Governments, Prop 1B Transportation Funds, and Nipomo Road Improvement Fees collected from area development for traffic mitigation.

Please contact Dale Ramey with the Public Works Department at (805) 788-2931 with any questions or comments.
