ATASCADERO, Calif. - The Atascadero Fire Department has unveiled it's brand new disaster response trailer that will be used for all emergency teams in San Luis Obispo County.
The trailer is a mobile unit designed to help rescue teams in a major natural or man-made disaster. The Fire Department used donated funds to make this vehicle a reality.
"It's just an example of the great city that we live in here, " said Atascadero Mayor Bob Kelly. "This was all done by volunteers and by donations."
Atascadero Fire Chief Kurt Stone says the new vehicle will give them more storage.
"Now we have it on a platform that we can transport, so rather than having the tools just sitting here in the city, in the back of pick up trucks or in storage, now we have it on a vehicle that we can drive anywhere in the state of California and render aid," said Stone.
