Top 3 Priorities if Elected:
CLOSE BUDGET SHORTFALL WITH NEW REVENUE GENERATION PROJECTS
Fund and fill the three positions requested in the last budget by staff that all work on revenue generating projects. Each of these positions will generate more money for the City that what we will pay them in salary and benefits.
EXPAND THE CYPRESS KNOLLS PROJECT TO COVER THE ENTIRE BLIGHTED AREA
The entire Cypress Knolls project area is 180 acres. Currently 90 acres have been offered to a contractor in an exclusive negotiating agreement. We could expand the agreement to 180 acres again to match the original request for proposal.
RE-EVALUATE THE RENT CONTROL ORDINANCE BEFORE IT COSTS THE RENTERS MORE MONEY
The Rent Control Ordinance was passed without a thorough cost analysis. The real impact to the renters was grossly under-estimated. Under the ordinance the City is authorized to charge each renter for the cost to implement and administer the ordnance. At this time the costs are estimated to be $60,000. For the 100 renters under rent control they should each pay $600 but that is simply not something they ever envisioned.
