Top 3 Priorities if Elected:
- Development of a publicly owned, cost effective desalination plant that does not rely on any illegal "back-room deals" or the taking of groundwater from innocent private property owners; which reduces the bloated and unacceptable Cal-Am bills that are sent to our residents; and which is sized to remedy the Cease and Desist Order (CDO) issued from the California State Water Resources Control Board against the California American Water Company (Cal-Am) for its illegal acts.
- Prohibition of new residential subdivision developments on both Highway 68 and Carmel Valley Road until adequate funding is secured and traffic congestion improvements are actually built and completed to lessen and relieve the terrible traffic problems that have been created by the approval of excessive, unmitigated developments over the past 20 years.
- Development of aggressive economic incentives to attract industrial and technology jobs that will remedy the chronic unemployment problems in Monterey County which have been caused by the failed strategy of relying on out-of-town residential developers over the past decade. This would include the mandatory redevelopment of the deteriorating barracks and buildings at Fort Ord before any open space is converted and before any woodland habitat is cut down, and financial securities and bonds to guarantee the performance of out-of-town developers before they are awarded any financial favors, sweetheart deals", or discounts from the Fort Ord Reuse Authority (FORA).
