Mike Ventimiglia, Del Rey Oaks City Council

Party/Affiliation: Republican
Current Job: Part Time Fire Inspector, City of Monterey

Top 3 Priorities if Elected:

DEVELOPMENT OF THE 360 ACRES WITH NEW MASTER DEVELOPER

The city council has just awarded the master agreement to Brandenburg Properties to develop the 360 acres at the former Fort Ord. This will be a long process and my previous 18 years serving on the City Council will provide history to aid in avoiding some of the pit falls that were created by previous developers. I served as a spokes person for the citizens over the last ten years, and presented their concerns and ideas to the city council. If elected I will be responsive to the citizens as to assure them that they will have an opportunity to have input into the process and development ideas.

DEL REY OAKS GOLF RANGE AND POTENTIAL USES THAT FIT IN WITH THE COMMUNITY

The Del Rey Oaks Driving Range at the entrance of our city is presently vacant and we need to find an appropriate use for this unique piece of property.  It is unique as it has limited uses due to the fact that it is adjacent to the Del Rey Creek, and is considered a flood plain.  Several other problems come with this piece of property as it is view from 218 upon entering the city and will be highly visible so the property use must fit within the community and be accepted by the community.  This again will have to be a collaborative effort between the city council and the community.  Most like some type of recreational use will best suit this piece of property.

WORK TOWARDS REPAIRING THE INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE CITY, STREETS, PARKS, AND RECREATION

The infrastructure within the city needs addressing, we have several streets that are need of resurfacing and sidewalks that have been uprooted by our loving oak trees that are in need of repair.  Painting the limit lines and streets are essential and for safety need to be repaired.  We need to hire an additional maintenance worker presently one person is not effective for the city.  City water drains are in need of repair and in some cases the streets are collapsing over the drains, which will cause more problems in the winter months.

Essentially all of these problems can be corrected by teamwork with my past experience on the city council and as a firefighter for over 50 years I will be a team member.
