805 Facebook Hate Page Taken Down And Admin Apologizes

Posted: Updated:

CENTRAL COAST, Calif. -- After Central Coast News investigated a Facebook hate page that post sexual photos of women in the 805 area code, the page was deleted and the administrator apologized.

The administrator says "Facebook deleted all content and suspended this page".

The page is called "805 Hoes On Blast" and allows anonymous users to post racy photos of women with derogatory details without their consent.

"They're really stupid" says Lompoc High School student Jacob Hutton.

"People just saying things they can't say to people's faces and using the Internet because they don't have the guts to do it."

Lompoc High School students Jacob Hutton and Austin Vongpanya were teed off when someone posted about their friend on the page.

"She was mad obviously, the guy was being stupid. And he was just mad at the girl because she broke his heart," says Vongpanya.

But a Facebook isn't that trivial. Experts say these pages can have dangerous consequences.

"It could contribute to depression, anxiety, insomnia, injury and certainly in the worst case scenario also suicide," says Dr. Dale Ekstrum.

Doctor Ekstrum recommends parents monitor their child's privacy settings and sometimes restrict access all together.

"You can always unplug your computer," says Ekstrum.

"You can unplug your Internet access and take a break from it."

For Jacob and Austin, they've decided to ditch the site and not fuel the fire.

"They're cowardly little children. They want to pick on people but they don't have the guts to do it in person," says Hutton.

"When if they do it on the Internet, they just get the attention that they want."

This isn't the only hate page for the 805 area code.

805 blast pages have popped up targeting everything from gangsters to other people in all different stereotypes and they seem to be spreading.

Lompoc Police say unless its life threatening these kinds of hate posts are protected under freedom of speech.

But Facebook says it reserves the right to remove speech it deems as hateful, pornographic or incites violence.
