SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif- A group of Cal Poly Aerospace Engineering Student's blasted off a small satellite.
It took the group of Cal Poly students 3 years to build it.
The little cube is known as CP5 Cube Sat.
It is small, basically the size of a fist, cheap, and educational.
The plan is to have the cube orbit in space for 6 months, so they can gather data, take pictures and communicate with CP5 cube during that time.
Their mission is to have it de orbit fast.
A drag sail, like a parachute, will slow the orbit in a short period of time so it doesn't become space junk or by a small chance, cause damage to anything it may orbit near.
Once it stops orbiting it will drop back into the atmosphere and burn up.
