City Officials Say More Travelers Are Visiting Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Santa Maria is attracting more travelers lately, according to city officials.

A new report from the Santa Maria Chamber of Commerce and Visitor and Convention Bureau says the city's transient occupancy tax receipts were higher from July 2011 through June 2012, compared to the previous year.

The TOT, or hotel tax, is money that tourists spend per room that goes directly back into the city.
