San Luis Obispo Releases Odor Advisory

Posted: Updated:

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District has released an odor advisory.

The APCD and the County Public Health Department informed residents that the odors are due to decaying organic materials from White Lake on the Nipomo Mesa that is currently drying up. As the lake shrinks, organic material from the lake bottoms becomes exposed and decays, resulting in unpleasant odors.

No health advisory has been issued but the Environmental Health Division of the Public Health Department will be closely monitoring the area for mosquito abatement purposes.
