Santa Maria Business Owner Chases Down Thief

Posted: Updated:

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The owner of Melinda's Makeup and Skincare chased a thief from her store last Friday. The suspect was ultimately arrested by police.

The woman entered the business posing as a customer. When one of the employees had gone to the back of the store, the suspect took action and went through the employee's purse and took her wallet. She then left the store. When the employee returned to the front of the store, she noticed her purse was in a different location than where she had originally put it. She went to the owner and they both saw the suspect walking outside on the sidewalk, away from the store. The owner got up and confronted the thief, who took off running. Police responded to a 911 call from Melinda's Makeup and Skincare and ended up driving by where the owner was chasing the thief. Police were able to make the arrest.

The owner of the store had this to say after the incident: "I'm not going to allow my coworkers to be intimidated or stolen from. This is not going to happen where I work. This is my town and I'm not going to have it."
