SANTA MARIA, Calif. - While social media websites have recently been an arena for bullying, dozens of people met Tuesday night in Santa Maria for an anti-bullying workshop as part of Peace Week.
The workshop was called "From Bully to Peacemaker" at the Santa Maria Library at 6:30pm. There, people learned the effects bullying can have on a person through films and lectures.
"Bullies are nothing more than very very hurt people themselves and they have nowhere to let it out." said Joselyn Lutz, the president and creator of WonHeart. "So at schools, it goes out to the one that's the weakest, or the one that's the funniest, and so on."
The group says they plan on hosting more 'peacemaking' events.
