ATASCADERO, Calif. -- Trying to make ends meet in this economy is tough enough and having health problems on top can make things that much more unbearable. Fortunately, there is an organization that can help.

Jacqueline needed medical attention and her 16 month old son needed surgery.

"I was seven months pregnant on bed rest and I didn't have a place to live, says Jacqueline.

"I didn't have anywhere to go."

Until, she found Transitional Food and Shelter which provides apartments to homeless people who are sick.

Transitional Food and Shelter President Pearl Munak says the program provides apartments "for homeless people who are very ill or seriously injured and occasionally terminal."

The program provides apartments in Atascadero and when there are no beds they give out motel vouchers.

The program also provides supper Monday through Thursday to the homeless in Paso Robles.

In addition to all that, they even match needy families with donors for during the Christmas season.

Jacqueline has been living in the Atascadero apartments for almost three months and says she's grateful.

"It's a godsend for me to be here," says Jacqueline.
