PASO ROBLES, Calif.- With today's tough job market, it's become a struggle for many people looking for work, but on Wednesday hundreds of job seekers had the chance to connect with local employers in Paso Robles.

"I've been out of work for about a year now and I have four kids and its really hard to find work," says Robert Hernandez, a job seeker.

Robert Hernandez was laid off from his job last September and providing for his family is a day-to-day struggle.

"You have the good days and you have the bad days but mainly it's bad days, you have to worry about money for the food, kids have shoes, that kind of stuff it's been a struggle," says Hernandez.

Hernandez is just one of many hoping to stand out at Wednesday night's job fair in Paso Robles.

"Its hard out there, everybody is looking for work, there's so many people applying for one job you get tossed to the side because there are just so many people to choose from," says Hernandez.

With the tough economy, employers are now seeing an increase in older job applicants.

"Different economic times brings different types of job seekers right now we are seeing that our job seeing population is a little bit older, more mature workers with good job experience, but maybe not the marketing skills to market themselves in this type of economy," says Kathy Marcove, Employment Services Manager of Shoreline Workforce Development Services.

As for Hernandez, he says he is ready to put his skills to work he just needs someone to take a chance on him.

"I'm really good with machinery extrusion mainly, manufacturing, putting things together, I'm really good with my hands with a little training of course," says Hernandez.
