Top 3 Priorities if Elected:
JOBS, JOBS, JOBS
Over the last 2 years, I have worked hard to support creating and preserving jobs here on the Central Coast. I have been a champion for local economic development tools such as redevelopment and enterprise zone programs as they are key to job growth in our region. But I supported needed reforms to strengthen these programs that help attract businesses to invest in our local communities. I have also supported new economic development programs that have moved through the State Legislature, including infrastructure finance districts that have promise. I also focused on addressing over-burdensome regulations, such as those that hold up transportation improvement projects or water quality regulations that could put small farmers out of business. I instead work to build consensus to come up with practical solutions.
ENSURE ACCESS TO SAFE DRINKING WATER
I have also successfully authored legislation to help ensure clean drinking water in the Salinas Valley with the support of the agricultural community, environmental organizations and Governor Jerry Brown. Moreover, I have worked closely with our State Water Resources Board to bring $2 million dollars to help San Jerardo improve their drinking water and treat their waste water and I am currently working the Governor to initiate a pilot project to clean up contaminated water in other parts of the Salinas Valley
KEEP OUR NEIGHBORHOODS AND COMMUNITIES SAFE
I have made it a priority to support our law endorsement agencies, city leaders, non-profits and schools to help keep our communities safe, including critical efforts such as National Night Out and Neighborhood Watch. I have gone on the front lines to learn directly from our law enforcement leaders, including police officers and chiefs, sheriffs, parole officers, probation departments and prison officials. I also continue to advocate for prevention and intervention services to help our young people stay out of the trouble.
But I cannot do it alone. I ask for your continued trust and support in advocating for critical issues for the people of the 30th Assembly District and California.
