ORCUTT, Calif. -- After the infamous video "Innocence Of Muslims" sparked protests across the Middle East, two Santa Maria Muslims took it upon themselves to speak out.
Osaama and Tahla Saifi plan to hand out flyers at Santa Maria Mall to educate the public about who Muslims really are.
"It's unfortunate to see the way the Muslims react in regards to the film but also it's unfortunate to see such kind of lies presented about Islam," says Osaama Saifi.
Saifi and his brother are standing up for peace by speaking with others about the film and dispelling ignorance about their religion.
They were saddened when they first watched the video.
"It's sad. Islam really isn't what you see in this video," says Saifi.
He says Islam promotes peace and hopes to inspire the majority of Muslim voices that get lost in the yelling of the extremist crowd.
"If I don't give this duty then nobody else will," says Saifi.
"It's the job of the moderate Muslim to fight this extremism with rationality and the real message of Islam."
