SANTA MARIA - Jane Doe "number one" took the stand in the trial of two St. Joseph High School administrators charged with failing to report to law enforcement alleged sexual assault involving students at the school last year.
Current SJHS Principal Joe Myers and former Dean of Students, teacher and coach John Walker are on trial in Santa Maria Court for the misdemeanor charge.
Myers remains on paid leave by his employer, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Walker was terminated from his job at SJHS at the end of the last school year and is unemployed.
Taking the witness stand Tuesday afternoon was Jane Doe Number One, one of two SJHS female students who claim they were raped by two of their male classmates.
The jury heard from Jane Doe 1 that she was first sexually assaulted by her alleged student assailants in the summer of 2011.
She testified she never told anyone about it immediately afterwards because she was traumatized and scared to death about what might happen to her.
She testified that she sought counsel and advice from Planned Parenthood and the Rape Crisis Center.
Jane Doe 1 testified Principal Myers and Dean Walker told her the claim must be reported to law enforcement but that she asked them not to report it.
Jane Doe 1 testified that she told Myers and Walker that if they reported it to the law enforcement, she would lie about what happened to her and that it was not sexual assault.
In response to a question from Myers' defense attorney, Jane Doe 1 said she was grateful to Myers and Walker for not reporting the alleged sexual assault to law enforcement.
The trial continues in Santa Maria Court.
