SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.- SLO Brewing Company is looking to pour its money into a new location from its current location on Garden Street to Higueria Street in downtown San Luis Obispo.
"The police department at this point doesn't have any opposition to the move it is relatively close to where the location is now. The safety plan they have developed we feel is adequate for the move," says Captain Chris Staley, San Luis Obispo Police Department.
San Luis Obispo Police tell Central Coast News their calls for services to SLO Brew are minimal even though the brewery is known for its nightlife and entertainment.
Come Tuesday, the Planning Commission is scheduled to consider the approval of a permit for the move. Part of the plan is the restaurant and music venue, but the new building will have a creekside and a rooftop patio.
Some businesses and neighbors aren't too happy about the move.
"I think there has been some concerns expressed from some of the residents who live by the Mission Plaza area who've been concerned about the noise issues and how it will affect them and their neighborhood," says Staley.
Central Coast News spoke with other businesses who said the move may keep the money flowing into downtown.
"I think it will help people discover us that may have not known that we were here so it will kind of bring a new audience to our area I think it would be great," says Stephanie Ross, a nearby employee.
