Attias Will Not Serve An Additional 30 Days at Patton State Psychiatric Hospital

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Former UC Santa Barbara student David Attias will not serve an additional 30 days at Patton State Psychiatric Hospital.

A judge granted his release from the hospital earlier this year to an undisclosed facility. Attias was convicted in 2001 to four counts of murder for driving his car into a crowded Isla Vista street. The same jury also declared that he was legally insane.

Attias was 19 when he first entered the hospital. He is now 30 years old.
