Pismo Beach Approves Seawalls That Were Already Built, Faces Appeal From Coastal Commission

Posted: Updated:
PISMO BEACH, Calif. - More than a month after two seawalls were built, Pismo Beach just approved them both to be built.

Confusing, right? The reason is because the city had such an emergency on their hands last year with sewage leaks and bluff erosion in shell beach, they couldn't waste any time getting the job done. But now, the city does face an appeal on the project from the California Coastal Commission.

If the California Coastal Commission was to win in the appeal process, the city of Pismo Beach could be fined. The California Coastal Commission has argued in the past that the project was not necessary for the city.
