Top 3 Priorities if Elected:
BRING ACCOUNTABILITY OF ADMINISTRATORS TO PARENTS' CONCERNS
SOLVE FISCAL PROBLEMS WHILE KEEPING OUR CHILDREN THE PRIORITY
USE MY EXPERIENCE AS AN EDUCATOR TO EVALUATE AND SUPPORT TEACHERS IN IMPLEMENTING THE NEW COMMON CORE STANDARDS
The ASJUSD Board of Trustees must give direction, not micro-manage, the district. Strong leadership is needed by administrators and a return to site based management that will give our parents a process for having their concerns heard. Our schools will have more support if we pass proposition 30, with-out it our district will lose close to half a million dollars. If cuts need to be made I pledge to keep them as far as possible from the classroom where student-teacher ratios are key, as well as support staff. As an educator who trains future teachers at CSUMB, I know what our teachers face and I will help guide the district in the transition to new standards. ASJUSD already has a strong history of promoting the deeper learning that the new standards require.
