Current Job: Mayor of San Luis Obispo
Top 3 Priorities if Elected:
FURTHER STRENGTHEN SAN LUIS OBISPO'S FINANCIAL POSITION
I will make sure the city continues on the path to financial sustainability by implementing budget based labor negotiations, creating efficiencies in city operations, adopting an economic development strategy to increase head of household jobs, reaching out to green businesses, increasing investment in the infrastructure and aggressively seeking federal and state grants.
COMPLETE THE LAND USE AND CIRCULATION ELEMENT UPDATE
The city has a state grant of over $800,000 to update our land use and circulation element update, and we are half way through the process. I will continue to make sure that we get input from the residents, on campus Cal Poly students, larger community and visitors regarding what needs to be updated, and what needs to be retained to make San Luis Obispo even better in the next twenty years.
IMPROVE OUR CITY'S UNIQUE, WORLD FAMOUS QUALITY OF LIFE
I will continue to advocate for the expansion of our greenbelt, open space around our city, in order to preserve the natural environment, provide recreational opportunities and prevent urban sprawl at the city's edge. I also will work to make our city renown for its public art, cultural offerings, parks and recreation program and vibrant, charming Downtown.
