Gina Rubalcaba, Guadalupe City Council

Party/Affiliation: Republican
Current Job: Peer Counselor & Advocate

Top 3 Priorities if Elected:

BALANCE OUR BUDGET

BRING REVENUE TO OUR CITY

CREATE AN INFASTRUCTURE WHICH DIMINISHES THE USE OF CITY FUNDS AND BRING ABOUT COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

How I think that we can implement these things is first, we all have to be on the same page. What I mean by that is that our common goal must be to build a strong community from the inside out. When we become a team only then we can "play" smoothly as a team should. We have to look at the areas in which our city has miss-spent and pull all our city departments together to see how we can help each other out. We also need to create community support by showing our community that we are one of them and we do care. We need to build trust again by making good on things that our residents are concerned about and have asked why certain things have not been done. When it comes to bringing in revenue we need to create projects that will involve bringing people to our town like the large housing development on the DJ Farms property. When we create projects we should look first to our own business owners, contractors etc to have an opportunity to work on those projects so that the money stays in our city. Many may be looking for me to throw out numbers and come up with a super fix all plan but right now we are going to have to back up in order to get a better head start. I am only one person but if we put our minds together for the best interest of our community I believe that we will be able to do more than what anyone has expected.
