ORCUTT, Calif. - A standoff has ended at an Orcutt apartment complex, after a parolee had barricaded himself inside his girlfriend's apartment for hours after allegedly fighting with his girlfriend.
Santa Barbara County Sheriffs arrested 27-year-old parolee Jose Villareal after he walked out of the apartment peacefully shortly after 11:30pm Friday night. He was arrested on charges of violating parole, as well as resisting arrest. He was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail.
Villareal's girlfriend, 36-year-old Rubi Acevedo, was also arrested at the scene for delaying a peace officer. Deputies say she was acting aggressively. She was booked into Santa Maria Jail
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department, along with the Santa Maria Police Department, CHP, and SWAT all helped with the investigation. Deputies were first called out to the 200 block of North Pacific Street around 7:30pm to respond to what neighbors referred to as a domestic dispute.
Deputies had evacuated all nearby apartments, but now say that people can return safely.
Authorities are unclear of his motive at this time. They are now investigating whether or not Villareal was under the influence of drugs during the time of the incident.
