Santa Barbara County Sheriff Talks About Plans for New County Jail

SANTA BARBARA, Calif- Sheriff Bill Brown will present a plan to county supervisors Tuesday for a new north county jail.

The plan calls for construction to begin in July of 2015 and is scheduled to be completed in 2018.

Sheriff Brown will ask supervisors to accept an $80 million dollar award to go towards part of the total construction cost of the $96.1 million dollar project.

Property has been purchased for the new jail at the corner of Black and Betteravia roads in Santa Maria.

The meeting starts at nine Tuesday morning in Santa Barbara.
