SANTA MARIA - Santa Maria Police say they have arrested a 24 year old man in connection with a life-threatening stabbing.
In a press release issued Monday afternoon, SMPD says at about 1:48pm Monday officers were at Marian Regional Medical Center on an unrelated call for service when an adult male victim, of Santa Maria, entered the emergency room.
SMPD says the victim had a severe stab wound to his neck which was believed to be life threatening.
The victim was immediately taken to emergency surgery and was in critical condition.
SMPD says officers were able to establish the vicinity of where the stabbing occurred and responded to a residence in the 1000 block of N. Lincoln.
While conducting their investigation, SMPD says the officers contacted Daniel Ortega, 24 years old, of Santa Maria.
SMPD says Ortega was arrested on two outstanding warrants for his arrest, and for attempted murder.
Police say Ortega will be booked on those charges following additional investigation.
