SLO County Sheriff Deputies Investigating a Death in San Miguel

SAN MIGUEL, Calif. - San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a death in a quiet San Miguel neighborhood. Investigators have been collecting evidence since Tuesday morning and still cannot rule if the death is a homicide or suicide.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Deputies say someone inside a home in the 1900 block of San Juan Bautista Street called 911 at about 10:15 Tuesday morning and reported someone in the home was possibly suicidal. When deputies went inside the home they found a man dead.

"The sheriff's office is classifying this as a death investigation, so we are trying to determine if this is a suicide or a homicide. We will continue to collect evidence, we will continue to interview residents in the area and try to determine what happened" says Tony Cipolla, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.

As coroner's took the body out of the home, an American flag was draped over the body.

"Our understanding is that the victim was a military Veteran and were also doing it out of the respect for the family," says Cipolla.

Neighbors say they did not hear anything suspicious going on from inside the home. The man's name has not been released and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
