Posted: Updated:

ORCUTT - Its a new era in the rich history of an historic restaurant in the Santa Maria Valley.

After 20 months of planning, designing, building and permitting, the new Far Western Tavern in Old Town Orcutt will open its doors at the end of October.

Central Coast News was given an exclusive, sneak peek inside the massive new building at the corner of Clark Avenue and Pacific Street.

The legendary Far Western Tavern in Guadalupe was co-founded by Clarence Minetti who died last year from complications suffered in a car crash at age 93.

A family member says Minetti was very excited about opening the new tavern in Old Orcutt and wanted it to look and feel like the legendary old establishment in Guadalupe.

"It was really important for us that the new building, you still get that old feeling when you walk into the old Far Western", says Minetti's granddaughter Rene Righetti-Fowler, "still feel that tradition, have the surroundings feel familiar to people, it was really important to us to continue that legacy to the next generation."

The new Far Western Tavern includes meeting and event space on the second floor for up to 180 people.

The original Far Western Tavern in Guadalupe will serve its last dinners this coming Sunday night, October 7, before the doors are closed for good.

Managers and restaurant staff are bracing for what's expected to be a very busy last four days at the historic and legendary old restaurant.
